Grindleford and Eyam Playgroup Management Committee
The pre-school’s committee are the trustees of the GEP charity and they each use their particular skills to help improve the pre-school for the staff, volunteers, families and most of all the children. Together, they are also a friendly face and point of contact for parents and members of the public. Our current committee is made up of parents old and new plus volunteers from the community. Below is a little introductory paragraph from a couple of our members so you can see that anyone can join!
Hello, I’m Nell, this is now my second year as a Committee member, and my first as Chair. I joined the committee as I wanted to support playgroup with the wonderful work they do and give something back. I have three children, Oscar (10), Bertie (7) and Percy (3). Percy currently attends playgroup and Bertie attended before leaving to start school. All 3 really enjoy coming and joining in the holiday clubs and family forest school. Oscar and Bertie now attend Great Hucklow Primary School.
I work as a School Business Manager at Edale C of E Primary School and I am also a Governor at Great Hucklow School. I previously worked as a childminder, having experience of early years childcare and level 3 qualification.
If you see me around then please feel free to say hi and if you ever want to discuss anything relating to the playgroup and your child’s care then I’m always available for a chat.
Hi, my name is Ruth I am 40 and have lived in Eyam my whole life, I live with my partner Ian who runs the Miners Arms in Eyam, with our son Louis, 2, who attends Grindleford and Eyam playgroup on a Friday. He loves taking part in the amazing activities on offer and enjoys the play time outside. I myself work as a lecturer in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy studies at Buxton and Leek College. I have been there 22 years after training myself there, so have seen many students qualify and go on to achieve great things within the industry. In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with family and creating lots of adventures with Louis.
Hi, my name is Liz Tiplady. My first child, William, joined the playgroup in 1991 and as a village newbie I really appreciated the support and friendship of everyone there.
I often volunteered at the playgroup so when an opportunity came for me to join the team I jumped at the chance, completing my Level 3 qualification in 2001.
I have found my time at playgroup rewarding and have become a passionate advocate for Early Years Education and the vital part it plays in the lives of children and their families.
I have seen many changes over the years but the joy of working with the children has remained. I have been particularly excited by our move to an outdoor based curriculum and am seeing the benefits to our children through the fantastic experiences it provides.
I have served on the committee for many years and have taken on the role of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer during this time. We work on things as a team, supporting each other and working to each of our strengths.
The committee is a great way to get involved and safeguard the future of this wonderful playgroup.
