We would like to say a huge thank you to Eyam Book Barn for their generous donation of £138.79 to Playgroup.
Inspired by one of our favourite books, ‘Mix It Up’ by Herve Tullet, we used the money to purchase new equipment that allowed us to explore colours and change.
The changing seasons provides the perfect opportunity to explore natural colours and watch the progression of change. Our new equipment provided opportunity for the children to extend this learning whilst having fun!
Join us on Friday 7th December for a fabulous, festive event at the Sir William Hotel, Grindleford
This week the Eyam Mechanics Institute opened its doors to GEP’s fifth official Comedy Night.
This year, due to overwhelming interest the decision was made to extend our run and put on a second show.
Rob Rouse hosted as audiences were entertained by award winning comedians Phil Nicol, Helen Rutter and Brennan Reece as they used the opportunity to preview new material before they head to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. A mixture of stand up, story-telling and comedy drama was presented over the two nights and the audiences laughed and cried along with the hilarious and sometimes moving performances.
Over 140 people braved the heat to join us and helped us raise £1427.20 which will go a huge way to helping playgroup next year.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to putting the nights on, special thanks to Rob, Helen, Phil and Brennan.
Keep your eyes peeled for information on the next Eyam Comedy Fringe Festival!
Thanks to everyone who joined us for our family forest school – it was a beautiful Autumn morning and great to get out with friends and family.
Once up at the site the children helped the leaders run through our rules and showed parents how to move safely round the fire circle.
There lots of jobs to be done and we want to thank everyone who helped re-build the climbing frame and balancing beams – popular activities at our weekly sessions.
National Trust rangers joined us for part of the morning and helped clear a patch of rhododendrons to create a new toilet area – great work. The rangers were delighted to see so many families enjoying time in the woods.
The children were busy too – painting with mud and creating an entire menagerie of fantastic beasts from clay and twigs.
The toasting of marshmallows was a popular way to round off a super morning.
The event raised £70 which will be used to buy new equipment for playgroup.
